Thriving Youth & Families

Initiatives and organizations that promote educational opportunity, support youth beyond the classroom, and reinforce and stabilize family systems.

Vibrant Quality of Life

Arts and civic efforts that enhance the lived experience and built environment, creating a dynamic community for all Memphians.

Advancing Community Pathways

Programs and organizations that empower under-resourced Memphians and neighborhoods by supporting poverty reduction, economic mobility, and increased self sufficiency.

Core funding

Amplifying Impact

The Briggs Foundation invests in community-driven efforts that create measurable change – especially in underserved Memphis neighborhoods facing economic challenges. We fund a range of support, including capacity building efforts, program or project expenses, capital projects, annual operations, and innovative initiatives that help organizations grow and scale their impact.

We are always open to welcoming new organizations into our process.

The Equity Fund

Fostering Momentum

The Briggs Foundation Equity Fund reflects our belief that equity starts with access and that investing in emerging leaders can lead to lasting change.

The Fund is designed to invest in the potential of early-stage, BIPOC-led organizations that are building something bold, but may not yet meet traditional grant criteria. These funds are specifically earmarked for organizations that are younger in age/relaunch, led by new or emerging leaders, or still gaining experience in grantmaking and reporting.

This funding supports small and growing organizations that are rooted in community and led with vision. We look for groups with strong ideas, thoughtful strategies, and a clear desire to grow and sustain their impact over time.

Eligible organizations may apply for a maximum of two Equity Fund grant cycles – adhering to the biennial funding guideline. To be eligible for a second grant cycle, an organization must demonstrate clear progress toward their goals. The long-term intent is to help these organizations grow into candidates for our Core Funding.
