What requests does Briggs prioritize?

Briggs shows a preference for areas, neighborhoods, and programs in Memphis that serve underserved or economically unstable Memphians.

How often can we apply?

Biennially — there must be a 2-year wait between applications.

How much is awarded each year?

About $750,000, divided between two funding cycles.

Are multi-year grants possible?

Yes, Briggs occasionally awards multi-year support.

Do you fund endowments?

No, endowments are not eligible.

How many proposals are reviewed per cycle?

Around 12 - 10 Core Fund and 2 Equity Fund proposals.

Do you fund new organizations?

Yes, newly formed organizations are welcome to apply.

How do I request an application?

Applications are by invitation. If you believe you meet the Briggs funding requirements, please contact Donna Nash, Executive Director, to discuss the potential to apply.
